What is the rainbow kiss? Raunchy sex act that’s not for the squeamish

A rainbow kiss may sound like something out of a Disney movie, but it couldn’t be further from that.

The “kiss” is said to be performed by only those with a trusted partner as it is most certainly not for the faint-hearted.

As with most sex and oral positions, safety is paramount as the rainbow kiss is said to be high up in the risk factor for sexually transmitted infections.

The rainbow kiss involves the exchange of bodily fluids between two partners – specifically menstrual blood and semen.

So how do you do it?

Although shocking, the act is said to bring lovers closer.

“Playing with blood bonds people because of the trust it takes to engage in such an act,” explains certified sex therapist Carolanne Marcantonio.

Urban Dictionary explains the act as “performing cunilingus on a menstruating female, often followed by orally swapping semen and blood/other secretions”.

How to do a rainbow kiss

The act entails both partners performing simultaneous oral sex during one person’s period.

As one partner goes down, they’ll end up with blood in their mouth, while the other will end up with semen in their mouth after the partner ejaculates.

Both partners can then kiss, creating a rainbow kiss.

Benefits of the rainbow kiss

The kiss is most certainly not for the squeamish, but some people are turned on by it.

“Some people think blood is hot. It can be a kink,” says Marcantonio.

The act is said to bond partners together.

Similar to when “each person pricks their finger and then both people bring them together”, Marcantonio adds.

But swapping blood does have a host of health risks and for this reason the rainbow kiss is said to best for trusting couples who have had a STI test.
