Manchester United are the ‘best of the rest’ in the Premier League with Paul Scholes giving his full backing to Erik ten Hag in charge.
The Red Devils started the campaign in dire fashion after hefty losses to Brentford and Brighton. But since then, United have been in fine form, winning five out of six Premier League matches.
United now sit fifth in the table, nine points behind league-leading Arsenal and eight behind champions Manchester City. But Scholes has high hopes that his old club will catch up and sit nicely behind them when the season is up.

Speaking on BT Sport, he said: “They could be [the best of the rest], I’m sure Arsenal will have something to say about Manchester City running away with the league.
It’s still very early, after them first two games, I was concerned they wouldn’t finish in the top six but the last six games, they’ve give themselves a great chance.

“They do look like the best of the rest, they’ve got the squad of players, it’s still very early days, players have come from different clubs, the management and the staff, they’re getting to know and find the right mix with his team. The longer it goes on, the more confident I’ll be they’ll finish top four.”
United have some tougher tests on the horizon, taking on Newcastle before facing Tottenham and Chelsea – the two teams above them right now in the Premier League. The club’s direction might be clearer after those matches while Ten Hag still gets to grips with the Premier League.
