Liverpool icon Emile Heskey has said he wouldn’t swap Mohamed Salah for Kylian Mbappe and questioned the Paris Saint-Germain star’s mentality.
Mbappe’s future in the French capital is uncertain once again after reports emerged earlier this week claiming that his relationship with PSG is “broken.”
Spanish outlet Marca claim that the Reds are the 23-year-old’s “only option,” with his current employers seemingly unwilling to do business with Real Madrid. Mbappe has spoken positively about Liverpool in the past, sending the rumour mill into overdrive amid recent news about his future.

One theory that has emerged involves a possible swap deal between PSG and Liverpool, with Salah making the move to Parc des Princes and Mbappe going the other way. Salah only signed a new deal at Anfield in the summer but has struggled for goals in the Premier League, scoring only twice so far this campaign.
Speaking to Gambling.com, Reds icon Heskey said that although it would be difficult for any club to turn down a player of Mbappe’s obvious qualities, the issues that come attached with him make a deal less appealing.

He said: “Would I swap Kylian Mbappe for Mo Salah? That’s a tough question! Anyone would find it hard to turn down someone like Kylian Mbappe, but if you’ve just signed a new contract and you are already kicking up a fuss to move away, why wouldn’t you do it again if things aren’t going right at your next club?
“That’s the only issue I have with the way that some players leave a club. What does it say about you when you’ve only just signed a new deal but now you want to go and as a manager you ask, ‘do I want to bring that into this environment?’

“At big clubs, yes, you are going to have ‘stars’ at the club but everyone should be on the same page really. I don’t believe Jurgen Klopp would be willing to treat a player different to any other person in his squad.
“Mbappe is a class player and he’d walk into anyone’s starting XI, but then you have all these issues that come with him. So would I do a like-for-like swap with Mo Salah for Mbappe, probably not.
“Mbappe is a younger version of Salah and he is very exciting, but I would rather keep Salah.”
