Meghan Markle has broken her silence on the death of Queen Elizabeth II, and not everyone is happy with the tribute she paid.
The Duchess of Sussex sat down with Variety Magazine’s Matt Donnelly to finally open up about the “complicated time” she and Harry suffered in the wake of Her Majesty’s passing on September 8, revealing she was proud of the relationship she fostered with the late monarch.
Meghan said: “Certainly, in terms of female leadership, she is the most shining example of what that looks like. I feel deep gratitude to have been able to spend time with her and get to know her.

“It’s been a complicated time, but my husband, ever the optimist, said, ‘Now she’s reunited with her husband.’
“I’ve reflected on that first official engagement that I had with her, how special that felt. I feel fortunate. And I continue to be proud to have had a nice warmth with the matriarch of the family.”
Royal expert Kinsey Schofield, however, believes Meghan’s words were “hollow” despite having plenty of time to consider what to say.
Schofield said: “Meghan Markle had an appropriate amount of time to craft the perfect tribute to Queen Elizabeth II.
“Not only a woman that dedicated her life to serving others but a woman that gave Meghan and her husband their entire lifestyle and platform.
“I felt like Meghan’s response was hollow. It just didn’t land with me.”
In the interview, Meghan also took the opportunity to share that she and husband Prince Harry were “energised and excited” to dive head-first back into their philanthropic work.
“In big moments in life, you get a lot of perspective,” the former Suits actress added.

“It makes you wonder what you want to focus your energy on. Right now, we feel energised and excited about all of the things we’ve been building toward.
“We’re also focused on our foundation. So much of the work we do includes the philanthropic space.”
Her comments on the family’s “foundation” come following claims that the pair would be “open to expanding” their family and may be considering a third child – despite previous claims that it was off the table.
Daily Star reported the comments of a source allegedly close to the family, who claimed the Sussexes would “love another sibling” for Archie and Lilibet.
A source close to the family said: “They’re both very open to expanding their family and would love it to happen, and for Archie and Lili to have another sibling.
“It’s a dream come true to be a family of four, but adding one more to the mix would be even more wonderful.
“Meghan’s healthy, Harry is a brilliant dad, their marriage just keeps on getting stronger and they’ve taken to parenthood like ducks to water.”
