Piers Morgan has had a howler on Twitter after claiming that his beloved Arsenal were still unbeaten in the Premier League, but forgot they were pumped 3-1 by Manchester United earlier this season.
The Gunners recent win streak came to an end on Sunday as they drew 1-1 against Southampton at St Mary’s Stadium, but it’s not all bad as they remain top of the Premier League. And Morgan tried to focus on the positives after Stuart Armstrong cancelled out Granit Xhaka’s opening goal.
Morgan’s take was to suggest that ‘at least Arsenal are unbeaten’ after they dropped two points. But the TV host forgot that the Gunners were thrashed by United 3-1 at Old Trafford.

Morgan took to Twitter during the Arsenal game, as he so usually does. And after posting: “Have to win this Arsenal. Come on,” he then looked for a positive in the 1-1 draw. “No more than we deserved, but still unbeaten and top of the league,” Morgan followed up with.
Top of the league, absolutely. But unbeaten? No. A debut goal from Antony and a brace from Marcus Rashford helped United on their way to an emphatic victory back in September, with Bukayo Saka scoring the one goal for Arsenal.
After fans replied with the news, Morgan briskly deleted the tweet, and then replaced it with a new one. Instead, he posted a picture of the Premier League table, this time saying: “Still top of the League.”

Arsenal are now just two points clear of Manchester City in second, so remain at the top for now. But after Xhaka smashed the Gunners in front, it may be two points lost that will haunt Arsenal at the end of the season.
The Gunners were on an eight-game winning run before Sunday, and have been one of the form teams in the league. They’ve been unstoppable in the Europa League too, winning all five of their group matches this season.
Not many are still predicting that Arsenal can challenge, but with every week that goes by, fans are starting to believe. However, as Morgan has now been reminded, if they do win the Premier League they won’t have done so while remaining unbeaten.
