Three killed in school shooting including attacker as cops give statement

A school shooting has left three dead including the suspected attacker.

Police swarmed to Central VPA High School in St. Louis, Missouri, US, on Monday after an active shooter sparked panic.

St Louis Metropolitan Police (SLMPD) have confirmed two victims have died from their injuries in the shooting, as has the suspect.

The emergency services were called to the school at around 9.10am and as officers arrived, students were fleeing the building in a panicked evacuation.

A teenage girl and woman also died. A total of eight victims were taken to a hospital with either gunshot wounds or other injuries.

Reporting from the tragic scene, US TV station Fox2 Now spoke to a student who revealed what it was like being caught in the middle of the terrifying attack.

She said: “While I was in there, I held onto my Jesus piece and prayed. There was nothing else I could do but to pray.”

St. Louis Police issued a statement to the media outside of the school, assuring that help was on hand for all pupils and parents affected by the shooting.

The shooting comes on the same day that Ethan Crumbley, 16, returned a guilty plea for opening fire at a Michigan school, gunning down four classmates.
