Liverpool defender Joe Gomez gifted Leeds United’s Rodrigo the ‘easiest goal ever’ in front of the Kop in an embarrassing gaffe for the Englishman.
A defensive mix-up between Gomez and Alisson saw the Englishman poke the ball into no man’s land, allowing Rodrigo to intercept the ball. The former Spanish international just had to turn the ball into an open net in front of the famous Kop.
And ex-Red Jamie Carragher, who was on co-commentary duty for Sky Sports, fumed: “He’s gifted him the easiest goal you are going to get in front of the Kop.” But he wasn’t the only Reds fan to suggest Rodrigo had just notched the simplest goal the Kop had ever seen.

One fan joked: “Rodrigo scored the easiest goal of his life I’m in tears!”
“Every single Joe Gomez error hurts more due to the fact he turned into prime Paolo Maldini against Manchester City,” a second added. While a third fumed: “I would sub off Joe Gomez for that. At this level that is an absolute disgrace!”
And a fourth added: “Joe Gomez belongs at a club like Crystal Palace. Far too many average players play for us it’s so disheartening.”

Gomez was outstanding against City earlier this month, helping his side to a 1-0 win over the Champions, but he again came under criticism last weekend as Liverpool lost to Nottingham Forest.
The Englishman gave away the free-kick that led to Forest’s goal as the newly-promotes side downed last season’s Champions League finalists. And Alan Shearer slammed Gomez for his performance, he said: “He’s got loads of time.
“He’s got 10 yards of space and all of a sudden it becomes a battle. He gives the free-kick away, he gets a yellow card. He has literally got 10 yards of space.”
Gomez’s blushes against Leeds were somewhat saved by Mohamed Salah ten minutes later.
The Egyptian, who is starting to find his feet again after a slow start to the season, found himself unmarked at the back post to fire Liverpool back on level terms with the West Yorkshire side.
