Marseille fans used flares and fireworks to turn the streets outside the Stade Velodrome into a fiery hellscape to welcome the team coaches before their Champions League clash against Tottenham.
Going into the game knowing that a win would put them through to the knockout stages, the home fans did their best to boost the confidence of their players while trying to rattle those of the Premier League side.
With their notoriously vocal fans using pyrotechnics to aid their entrance display, thousands of others were in the stadium hours before kick-off.

The display might well have worked to their advantage with former Newcastle defender Chancel Mbemba scoring the only goal of the first half.
Tottenham went into a game knowing that a draw would be enough to progress to the knockout stages – and that defeat would send them out of the competition.
The task was made harder for the visitors with boss Antonio Conte banned to the stands after his ending off in their most recent European fixture against Sporting.

The fierce welcome for players came after Spurs stars were awoken by fireworks at 1:30am the previous evening.
Footage captured by Sky Sports showed fireworks exploding above Tottenham’s team hotel, with reports that the rowdy ultras let off the explosions at 1.30am and 4.30am.
However, there might just have been a reason, with November 1st also a dedicated national holiday.
Spurs got themselves back level in the second-half thanks to Clement Lenglet’s flicked header from a free-kick after Harry Kane was fouled by Matteo Guendouzi.
One worry for the visitors was the withdrawal of Son Heung-min after he was involved in a head injury that led to seven additional minutes being added.
With the focus being on their European standing, Spurs will then turn their attention to league action with the visit of Liverpool on Saturday.
