Many furious Everton fans have called for Frank Lampard’s sacking, after the Toffees’ abysmal 4-1 away defeat to Bournemouth.
The former Chelsea manager watched his side succumb to a painful loss in the Carabao Cup, after making 11 changes to the team that lost 2-0 at home to Leicester City. His much changed starting eleven were out fought and out thought by the Cherries, who won courtesy of goals from Jamal Lowe, Junior Stanislas, Emiliano Marcondes, and Jaidon Anthony.
The convincing loss on the South Coast confounded the Merseysiders to their fifth defeat in their last seven matches in all competitions. But while the players on the pitch certainly let themselves down, a large swathe of Everton supporters pointed the finger at Lampard for the humiliating loss.

“He’s the new age Steve Bruce,” one fan commented, citing the struggles Steve Bruce has endured over the last few seasons. “Makes 11 changes then blames the s*** players he’s put out,” another added.
“Can blame mistakes all he wants, his tactics were s***, his team selection was baffling and he doesn’t have a plan B,” another furious supporter commented.
“Lampard was disgraceful tonight,” tweeted one other Everton fan, while another bluntly commented, “everyone at fault by himself.” Lampard tore into his much changed side in his post-match interview, stating they need to look at themselves for the shambolic display.

“We were poor. I made a lot of changes, but the reality of my job is that we want to win every game we play,” he said after the game. “When you go through a season and are not getting many minutes, some players are not happy and want to knock on your door, others want to train well and wait for a chance.
“You have to make the most of your opportunities when you get a chance. Lampard also sent a very firm message to his Everton flops at the Vitality Stadium, adding “If you make those mistakes repetitively then the answer is simple and that is probably why you don’t play so much.”
Lampard’s side travel to Bournemouth again at the weekend for their last Premier League match before the World Cup. If ever there was an occasion where his side need to perform, it most certainly will be at the Vitality Stadium.
