A toddler ‘turned blue’ as he tucked into a pizza that ‘turned out to have plastic in it’, a mum has claimed.
Xavier, a 14-month-old boy had been given the pizza as a treat by mum Denise Perry-Humphrys, 25, on Friday (November 25) but soon started coughing as he tucked in.
As her only son began to choke she started “panicking” – she had previously harboured fears about this kind of situation and watched as her fears became reality.

Composing herself she shoved her fingers down the little lad’s throat and managed to fish out the plastic from his windpipe.
The move is one that is only advisable if parents can clearly see the object, otherwise, the finger approach is rarely a good one as it can push objects further down.
The object is said to have been a bit of “sellotape” and provider Farmfoods is understood to now be looking into how it got there.
From Mexborough, South Yorkshire, Denise reckons she’s going to check for similar alien objects in all the food she gives her boy from now on, and will be steering clear of that particular dish for a little while.
She said: “I have the anxiety of him finding an object in his food that shouldn’t be there – even in my husband’s food.
“So when that took place, I thought ‘this is becoming a reality’, and I started panicking, completely panicking.
“I try to present his food nicely, and I cut it into shapes, but now I’ve been putting my fingers in and I cutting it completely open to see if I can find anything.”
She continued: “He’s usually very good at chewing, but he was having a bit of difficulty. He then started coughing.
“He started going blue, and that’s when my mothering instinct kicked in. I pulled him out of the high chair, and I put my hand in his mouth to dislodge it.
“I put my index finger in his throat and pulled it out, like a fish hook.”
“I then took everything into the kitchen and looked through his lunch. It looked like sellotape because it was sticky and it was stuck together.
“You could tell it came out of the dough because there was a little space missing where Xavier took a bite out of.”
Xavier is said to be fine, and Farmfoods have been contacted regarding the matter.
