England fans are fuming France clash is on ITV despite breaking curse against Senegal

England fans are fearful of the “ITV curse” for their World Cup quarter-final despite the broadcaster showing the 3-0 win over Senegal.

Before the round-of-16 victory last weekend, the Three Lions had not won any of their last 10 matches in normal time when they were on ITV. In fact, they’d only won six times in major tournaments on the channel since 1998.

Their record on BBC, however, is drastically better, sparking theories that ITV are cursed. And while Gareth Southgate‘s side may have broken it, not everyone is convinced heading into the clash with France this Saturday (December 10).

One supporter tweeted: “@EnglandFootball are definitely going to exit out of the #WorldCup2022 on Saturday as the match v France is to be shown live on @ITV!!! We never do well on that ridiculous channel!!!”

Another commented: “Woo hoo a sigh of relief that the ITV Curse is broken… then you realise the England v France game is on ITV. Oh for fu….”

And one joked: “England playing France on ITV? Been a good run lads.”

Others were more optimistic, though. One person posted: “I take it England have broken the ITV curse and dare I say it’s coming…..” A second wrote: “The ITV curse is broken! We are so back.”

England will have Raheem Sterling back in their ranks after he missed the Senegal match to fly home and be with his family after a reported burglary at his Surrey mansion. The Chelsea man returned to Qatar yesterday (December 8).

France, meanwhile, were left sweating on the fitness of star man Kylian Mbappe after he didn’t join his team-mates for training earlier this week. But he’s expected to be ready to go for the do-or-die clash.
