BREAKING Firefighters evacuate more than 1,000 people over London gas main rupture

More than 1,000 people have been evacuated after a gas main ruptured in central London.

Firefighters rushed to the City of London during rush hour following reports that a 24-inch main had ruptured.

At least 1,300 people have been evacuated from the area near Fenchurch Street following the incident.

The London Fire Brigade Tweeted: “Around 1,300 people have been evacuated due to the 24-inch gas main that has ruptured on Seething Lane junction of Crutched Friars. Fenchurch Street station is not affected. Please avoid the area if possible.”
