Evil serial killer Peter Tobin given ‘bog standard’ taxpayer-funded £700 funeral

Evil serial killer Peter Tobin’s ashes were scattered at sea in a budget £700 funeral paid for by the British taxpayer, new documents show.

The monster – who was serving a whole life sentence for the murders of Angelika Kluk, Vicky Hamilton and Dinah McNicol – died whilst tied to a hospital bed on October 8.

After nobody claimed the beast’s corpse, Edinburgh City Council was forced to make arrangements for the unclaimed killer and he was cremated without a service in the week following his death at the age of 76.

Now, fresh documents revealed after a Freedom of Information request from The Sun newspaper show brutal Tobin was given a basic funeral with costs comprising of a £69 admin fee, £250 coffin and £364 for the cremation.

A funeral industry source told the newspaper that the process of removing the body was “bog standard” and a lot cheaper than a funeral would normally cost.

They explained how his body would have had to be removed because of issues with health and safety.

It came after Tobin fell in August at HMP Edinburgh in an incident that hospitalised him with a broken hip, where he remained until his death.

A source said at the time: “After he died, this was dealt with quickly. Like serial killers Robert Black and Angus Sinclair, it was considered best that his remains were scattered in the sea.”

Edinburgh City Council confirmed: “The remains of Peter Tobin were cremated in accordance with the requirements of Section 87 of the Burials and Cremation (Scotland) Act 2016.

“Ashes from the cremation were dispersed into the sea. The council’s thoughts are with the victims of his crimes and their loved ones.”
