‘Haunted’ Prince Andrew ‘now on outside of Royal Family at Christmas’, says expert

A body language expert thought Prince Andrew looked “haunted” during the royal family walk at Sandringham on Christmas Day.

It wasn’t clear whether the Duke of York was going to make an appearance at the annual tradition after his brother King Charles barred him from keeping an office in Buckingham Palace.

The traditional Norfolk walk to St Mary Magdalene appearance was something of a surprise move from the Prince after he lost all patronages and military affiliations due to his involvement in the Jeffrey Epstein scandal.

But although walking with the family might look like a show of unity, body language expert Judi James reckons that the Prince was carrying some serious baggage on the walk.

Speaking to the Mirror she said he looked “very much like the victim of a cull” and appeared “haunted”.

She said: “Andrew looked very much like the victim of a cull.

“Charles had walked with his brother away from the crowds in a gesture of loyalty at Andrew’s first church service after the notorious BBC interview, but this time Andrew walked alone, alongside but outside the royal pack.

“His wide eyes and his ashen face made him look wary and haunted,” she added.

“His head was held high at times but there appeared to be no one stepping up from the chatty and tactile group of royals to join him or to include him, leaving him walking several paces outside the very upbeat, tactile groups with his hands stuffed into his pockets.

“Andrew might have managed a more inclusive look during the Queen’s funeral when appearances were more formal and military but in an informal scenario like this, he was revealed to be more on the outside of the royal pack than inside.”

She continued: “His facial expression, with a rounded eye, suggested some torment, suggesting he might find it hard to see his public appearances as any form of PR event.”

The Prince will no longer be able to use Buckingham Palace as a corresponding address moving forward, in a strong sign from the King that his brother is no longer part of the central plans for the family and the future of the skeleton staff he still had there remains uncertain.

Earlier this year, Prince Andrew reached an out-of-court settlement with his accuser Virginia Giuffre. The settlement admits no guilt.
