Man Utd fans aim crude chant at Kalvin Phillips after Pep Guardiola’s weight admission

Manchester United fans were heard singing a crude chant about Kalvin Phillips’ weight during their 2-1 win over Manchester City on Saturday.

Last month, Pep Guardiola complained that Phillips returned from the World Cup “overweight” and rival supporters have been letting him have it ever since.

As Phillips, who was an unused substitute in the Manchester derby, emerged from the tunnel following the half-time break, a chant of “get your t**s for the lads” rang out around the Stretford End.

It comes after Leeds fans were heard singing “Kalvin Phillips, he eats what he wants” during their 3-1 defeat to City at the end of December.

After coming under fire for his ‘overweight’ comment, Guardiola later joked that he thought Phillips was “so sexy”, adding that the 27-year-old had a “perfect body”.

The England international has been plagued by injuries this season and has featured in just two league games for City since joining from Leeds in the summer.

Guardiola hinted that Phillips would become an important player for City, despite his lack of game time in the last few months.

“He has spent the first part of the season out with surgery to arrive for the World Cup – and did everything to get to the World Cup. It’s not just about just being fit you also have to understand what we want to do, the movements etc.

“So that means, as quick as possible, because Rodri cannot play all the games, so as quick as possible he will play. But I’m happy that yesterday for example Kalvin trained really well and sooner or later he will play.”
