Oasis icon Noel Gallagher washed ex-Man Utd star’s car and left him stunned by behaviour

Noel Gallagher left former Manchester United legend Brian McClair shocked with his response after the Oasis icon washed the ex-striker’s car.

Noel became acquainted with the Man United squad through a man named Paul Ashby, who shared his love for Manchester City and used to wash the squad members’ cars. And one day Paul approached Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United’s old Cliff training ground and offered to clean the Red Devils players’ vehicles too.

After building a rapport with the United squad, Paul started to invite the players to his home to get their cars cleaned, and Oasis brothers Liam and Noel began assisting him with the valeting service.

The trio also provided a mobile valeting service, and one time Noel arrived at McClair’s house to handle the cleaning. But to MClair’s surprise, the usually vocal Oasis star didn’t utter a single word for the whole time he was there.

McClair relayed his awkward encounter with Noel on the Sport Social Network podcast, and said: “Noel came to the house one day to clean the car and he never said a f***ing word!”. The show’s host was also shocked and interjected: “That’s not like him is it!”, prompting McClair to respond: “Not a thing that’s what I’m saying.”

But despite Noel’s silence, he did accept McClair’s wife’s offer of coffee and chocolate biscuits. McClair continued: “Then the missus made him a coffee, and brought out some chocolate biscuits,” that included Penguins and a few other household names.

However, although he was quiet for the duration of his visit to McClair’s house, he did say thanks for the hospitality. The 59-year-old added: “He said thanks for that but that’s all he said in the 45 mins to an hour period he was there.”

But McClair did get a nice parting gift after finishing the job. The Scottish legend revealed that he was given an Oasis tape that he still has up to this day, and although he was stunned by Noel’s lack of words, he was impressed by his musical ability. McClair said: “Paul gave me a demo of Oasis, and I said to him ‘ah it’s pretty good that’.”

“I’ve still got it, it’s a copy of the original of them doing their early songs.” McClair retired in 1999 after a trophy-laden spell with United, but he was recently spotted out looking completely different to how he did during his time with the Red Devils.
