Paige Spiranac has been left concerned by the increasing number of fake social media accounts pretending to be her.
The former pro golfer, 29, has become a social media sensation since calling time on her sports career, racking up a mega 3.7million Instagram followers to date. One of the byproducts of her online fame, however, is impersonators trying to cash in on it too.
The problem has got so bad in recent weeks that she tweeted yesterday (January 27): “The amount of fake accounts pretending to be me is next level and apparently pretty convincing because I told this man from my verified account he’s not talking to me and he didn’t believe real me lol.”

One of her fans sought to comfort her as they said: “Imitation is the highest form of flattery.” Another replied: “I got excited when the fake you followed me.”
“I’ve had about eight TikTok accounts that use your name follow me,” commented a third, while a fourth wrote: “Life is confusing enough without fake Paige Twitter accounts.”

A fifth joked: “Does this mean you don’t really want me to send money to get you out of a hostage situation?” And a sixth similarly quipped: “So we’re not going to Europe together?!?! …I’ve already told everybody at work.”
She expressed her gratitude for the support she received later on in the day and offered her thanks. “Feeling sentimental tonight,” Spiranac began.
