Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has Nanny McPhee to thank after he was spared from facing the music following their FA Cup exit.
The Reds were dumped out of the competition this afternoon (January 29) by fellow Premier League side Brighton, who beat them 2-1 and for the second time this month following their 3-0 league triumph two weeks ago.
Goals from Lewis Dunk and Kaoru Mitoma flipped the game on its head after Harvey Elliott had given the visitors the lead. But Klopp avoided a grilling on ITV as after they’d spoke to captain Andy Robertson, the broadcaster ended their coverage to air Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang at 3.45pm.

He did of course eventually have to speak to the media, but not on tele with furious Liverpool supporters watching on. He told Radio 5 Live: “We came here after a game a few weeks ago when we weren’t even close to ourselves.
“Today we played a better game but we concede two goals from set-pieces and that is not allowed in any way. On the left side Robbo was ok because we helped him but on the other side Trent [Alexander-Arnold] didn’t get the support.

“Mitoma is really good so, of course, it was tough. We could have defended both goals better. The first is deflected but we can probably block the shot.
“It doesn’t feel great. In time we might see the positives but we wanted to get the next round. Congratulations to Brighton.”
Klopp was criticised for his selection of substitutes as Liverpool chased a winner themselves, while his name and the word ‘sacked’ began trending on Twitter after the full-time whistle.
