Man Utd pushing to loan Marcel Sabitzer with option to buy as cover for Christian Eriksen

Manchester United are chasing the signature of Bayern Munich midfielder Marcel Sabitzer on Transfer Deadline Day.

Sabitzer – who was a standout for RB Leipzig – has struggled to break into the first team at the Allianz Arena. According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the Austrian has asked to leave Bayern – and the German side are willing to let him go.

However, United will face competition for Sabitzer’s signature, with Chelsea also rumoured to be interested in the Austrian’s services. Graham Potter’s side are set to have a busy Deadline Day, with Enzo Fernandez set to move to Stamford Bridge.

Should the Argentine sign with the Blues, it could open a clear run for the Red Devils to sign Sabitzer.

United’s pursuit of Sabitzer has stepped up after the Red Devils confirmed they would be without Christian Eriksen until the end of April. Eriksen injured his ankle over the weekend – after he was on the receiving end of a reckless challenge from Andy Carroll.

“He’s disappointed and we’re disappointed, but it happens in top football. You have to deal with it,” Erik ten Hag said ahead of United’s Carabao Cup clash.
