Arsenal fans have branded Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford as “embarrassing” after they felt the England No.1 dived in the first half.
The former Sunderland goalkeeper looked to have gone down very easily in the first half when under pressure from a much improved Everton side. As a goalkeeper, fans have become more than accustomed to Pickford throwing himself across his penalty area and his goal.
However, the sight of the 28-year-old tumbling over in the same fashion as an outfield player is very rare. Needless to say, it’s something Everton fans do not want to see again, as they tore into Pickford and referee David Coote.

“Pickford should be booked for diving there, f***ing cheat begging for a free kick. Of course Coote bought it hook, line & sinker,” one Arsenal fan wrote on social media.
“That Pickford dive – any outfielder would have been booked,” another fan added. “David Coote is so pathetic. You can tell he’s so weak. The type of ref who’s clamping down on where we take throw-ins from, but doesn’t have the authority to stop them kicking the shit out of our players. Will let Everton steal 10 yards for a throw, buys Pickford’s dive. Hopeless,” ranted one other furious Arsenal supporter.
“That’s a poor dive from Pickford, genuinely embarrassing,” another said, before somebody else commented, “Dive and a half from Pickford but yeah ref give a foul, sure.”

Arsenal fans were particularly angry with Pickford’s conduct as it came during a first half where they were struggling. Unfortunately for the North Londoners, their mood is not much better, as the relegation strugglers managed to beat the Premier League leaders 1-0.
James Tarkowski’s firm header was enough for Sean Dyche’s side to secure a shocking victory over Arteta’s side. The Gunners simply could not handle a very aggressive and intense Everton team who have managed to drag themselves out of the relegation zone.
Considering their difficulties and frustrations at Goodison Park over the years, Arsenal fans will be relieved they will not have to go back there any time soon.
