‘Clown’ Jurgen Klopp claims Liverpool were ‘outstanding without scoring’ after 3-0 defeat

Jurgen Klopp was labelled a ‘clown’ for claiming Liverpool were ‘outstanding’ in their 3-0 defeat to Wolves despite not scoring.

The Reds were walloped 3-0 by a rampant Wolves side on Saturday afternoon and the Merseysiders never looked like getting into the game. The floodgates opened at the Molineux Stadium when Reds star Joel Matip, who had a ‘disasterclass’ in the match, scored an own goal after just five minutes.

His error was followed up by strikes from Wolves’ new signing Craig Dawson, and Ruben Neves who put the final nail in Liverpool’s coffin. But despite his team’s horrorshow, Klopp bizarrely claimed the Reds played outstanding, to the dismay of fans.

Speaking after the debacle, Klopp mused via the BBC: “Conceding early goals is not unfamiliar to us but the way we conceded them today was not acceptable. When you see the whole game, throughout the game in moments we played an outstanding game without scoring and a good away game without scoring.”

And his skewed view of his team’s performance led to an outcry from supporters who challenged his delusion on Twitter. One fan raged: “This man is a clown “we played outstanding” he says..I mean this is seriously downright ridiculous.”

Another user fumed: “Same thing every time. Still not accepting the facts and saying them out.

“Which game did we play well? They were just shooting at any little chance they get so I don’t know if it’s by that we played a good game.” A third outraged supporter added: “How many early goals have we conceded this season? Also we were terrible throughout the whole game, no outstanding parts about it.”

Before a fourth livid fan asked Klopp: “What game were you watching?” It’s the second time in a week that the German’s been ridiculed by fans.

Supporters called Klopp ‘dumb’ for the questionable substitutions he made in Liverpool’s FA Cup fourth-round defeat to Brighton last Sunday. And to make matters worse for the Liverpool boss, he’s got to deal with the reported inner turmoil at the club after it was claimed by staff that one of his most trusted allies is difficult to work with.
