Taco Bell is offering their “new” Crispy Melt Taco for “free” until Feb. 15. I write that with some skepticism, as it’s questionable whether the CMT is actually new, and you can only get it for free if you are willing to buy a bunch of other food too. But hey, a free taco is a free taco is a free taco.
If the Crispy Melt Taco looks familiar to you, it’s because it was previously offered as the since discontinued Cantina Crispy Melt Taco, which debuted in 2021, according to Chew Boom. The rereleased version comes with a new name but the same exact ingredients: a fried white-corn shell, a melted layer of three-cheese blend and nacho cheese sauce, and filled with a protein (either black beans or seasoned beef), reduced-fat sour cream, lettuce, tomatoes and shredded cheddar cheese. Which is to say, they’ve done it again: Taco Bell has combined its five ingredients in a totally new way, except for the “new” part.
How to get the Crispy Melt Taco for free-ish
The Crispy Melt Taco will be free provided you meet a few requirements. You must order through the Taco Bell app and sign up for a rewards account (which is free, and done through the app). And you must also place a “qualifying order” with at least $10 in food (what exactly that means is listed in the terms and conditions).
The fine print
The deal is only eligible at participating locations and is not available for delivery on third party apps; you must order through the Taco Bell app. You can’t do any substitutions or combine it with other offers. The terms indicate the reward is “one time per registered user,” but it’s not clear if that’s per day until Feb. 15, or once, period. (We have reached out to Taco Bell for clarification and will update if we hear back.) Either way, you have until Feb. 15 to get your order in.
