WWE to bring Smackdown show to UK 24 hours before historic Money In The Bank event

WWE has announced that it is bringing its top show Smackdown to London’s O2 Arena on June 30 – just 24 hours before the history Money In The Bank event takes place at the same venue.

And it has also confirmed that tickets for both events as a bundle go on presale from Wednesday, February 22 at noon via Ticketmaster.

This marks the first time ever that SmackDown will broadcast live and in primetime from the UK at 8pm local on BT Sport.

London’s O2 Arena will play host to the annual Money In The Bank premium live event, the first huge show WWE has held in London for more than 20 years.

Hot off the success of the Cardiff-based stadium show Clash at the Castle, WWE has now decided to bring the Money in the Bank show to the UK for the first time in its history.

Smackdown will now take place 24 hours before Money In The Bank

It is set to feature WWE’s biggest Superstars and will also bring the Money In The Bank ladder match with it, with each winner receiving a briefcase containing a contract for a championship match at a time and place of their choosing anytime within the next year.

The show has been known to be one of the company’s most chaotic events of the year, with ladders flying everywhere – while top stars compete for a year-round title opportunity.

Previous winners include John Cena, Liv Morgan, Brock Lesnar and The Miz.

“The O2 is one of the world’s premier venues and the perfect home for Money In The Bank. We are excited to bring one of our ‘Big five’ events to the UK and look forward to welcoming the WWE Universe to London on July 1,” said Dan Ventrelle, EVP, Talent at WWE.

Christian D’Acuña, Senior Programming Director at The O2, added: “We are honoured to be hosting the first ever Money In The Bank event taking place in the UK here at The O2.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming back WWE fans to The O2 this summer for an unforgettable night with some of WWE’s biggest Superstars.”
