Woman’s Wetherspoons horror as she catches creep red handed after swiping phone

A “disgusted” woman was left feeling physically sick after catching a Wetherspoon punter take a photo of her.

Shauna Leigh Campbell burst into tears after seeing her face on a stranger’s phone along with snaps of others on his camera roll – photos that have been seen by the Daily Star.

The 24-year-old was enjoying a Friday night out with her boyfriend and pals at the Potters Wheel in Swansea, South Wales, this month when she sensed something wasn’t right.

Shauna shared her suspicions with a friend who slyly walked past an older man who had been pointing his phone in her direction.

Horrified from looking over his shoulder and discovering Shauna was right to be concerned, her mate swiped his iPhone for evidence.

Shauna told the Daily Star: “He had his iPhone 13pro really close to his face and I thought at first ‘oh he’s elderly he’s just looking close to his screen’, but then I had an awful feeling go through my spine.

“I’ve watched videos like this on social media and I said to my friend go check if he’s taking photos.

“She she got up and walked past as normal as if she was going to the bar but turned around as she got behind him and he was in the middle of taking a photo of me. She said ‘excuse me’ politely then quickly snatched his phone.”

Shauna instinctively grabbed her own phone to capture the images on the stranger’s before handing it back.

“At the time I felt super humiliated and disgusted as all I could think was what was he about to do with that photo,” Shauna said.

Yelling at him in fury, she asked why he wanted her pictured on his phone.

Shauna continued: “It was proper zoomed in, I felt physically sick, I just cried. And not to mention the other ones [of other people].”

Rather than win over support or empathy from fellow diners and drinkers at the pub, Shauna admits shouting at the man “as a natural reaction”, which appeared to alienate them.

“The whole pub just looked at me as if I was this vicious woman screaming and shouting,” she added.

Shauna claims Wetherspoons staff members responded to the incident by returning the phone asking them to back away from the bloke.

To her relief police officers arrived at the scene but Shauna claims to have been told they had no evidence a crime had been committed.

The Port Talbot native alleges the man had time to delete the pictures before the authorities turned up.

Shauna said: “I really felt as though I was going crazy! I cried so much because I knew the other photos on there.”
