Man Utd’s graduate XI worth over £200m – and they may regret letting some go

Manchester United’s youth academy has produced more than £200m worth of talent – and they may regret letting some of them go.

A number of the young Red Devils have gone on to become staples in the squad’s first team, but others have moved onto new pastures in recent years. Stars such as Marcus Rashford, who is valued at more than £48m by transfermarkt, Anthony Elanga, said to be worth £22m, and the £4.4m rated Anthony Garnacho, have featured heavily in Erik ten Hag’s United side this season.

And Scottish midfielder McTominay, rated at £26m, also gets his fair share of starts at Old Trafford. However, a number of the club’s hottest prospects have fallen through the cracks at United, and in hindsight, the Red Devils may wish they held onto a few of them heading into the latter stages of the season.

United offloaded disgruntled keeper Dean Henderson, worth £19m, to Nottingham Forest last summer on loan, and he could’ve provided them with decent cover for ageing No1 David De Gea. Henderson was followed out the door by £30m rated Paul Pogba who joined Juventus, with few fans perhaps mourning his absence, but the absence of crocked ace Christian Eriksen and his suspended midfield partner Casemiro in recent matches has shown the club’s need for more depth in the middle of the park.

United have been thriving in attack this season, however, there’s been times when Jack Harrison valued at £22m, who was flogged to Leeds, may have been able to weave his magic on the wing when Antony’s had a bad game. But there’s several players who United have let go that have failed to live up to their earlier talent, especially in their defence.

Centre-back Alex Tuanzebe rated at £5.2m, was sold to Stoke City, like his fellow £12.3m rated counterpart Michael Keane was flogged to Burnley before he ended up at Everton, and Timothy Fosu-Mensah, worth a paltry £2.6m, joined Bayer Leverkusen.

The Red Devils also seemed poised to shift youngster Brandon Williams this summer, who has failed to make a single Prem appearance in the current campaign, despite holding an £8.8m price tag.
