‘Rampant speculation’ over Nicola Bulley will end if post-mortem update is ‘believed’

A former detective says the “rampant speculation” surrounding the disappearance of Nicola Bulley will only end if the public believe the post-mortem.

The 45-year-old vanished 23 days ago (January 27) while walking her dog Willow near the River Wyre in the village of St Michael’s on the Wyre, Lancashire.

Armchair detectives and TikTok users have descended on the town in an attempt to get involved in the investigation – despite police asking them to steer clear.

Most recently, a TikTok ‘detective’ was seen digging around, as Lancashire Police are blasted by an ex-police officer for “not setting the media agenda”.

Now, a former undercover detective at Scotland Yard Peter Bleksley claimed the way the investigation was handled created a “void of information”.

A “void” which he says has been filled with gossip, rumours, and ‘rampant speculation’, speculation which will only end if the post-mortem update is ‘believed’.

Speaking to Sky News, the Channel 4 Hunted star said: “Talking of the conspiracy theorists and the TikTokers and the like, if I may, they’re at it again.

“People are now showing aerial views on social media platforms and saying ‘well a vehicle could have parked here’, or ‘a van could have parked near’.

“This is just rampant speculation once again, which the police have got to be aware of.

“They have got to get some strategies as to what they’re gonna do in the future.

“Let’s just hope that when there is of course a post-mortem, that there will be, that that information is properly conveyed to the public, it’s believed, it’s trusted, and finally, perhaps, just finally, this rampant speculation might come to an end, and not before time.”
