Royals fans slam ‘ridiculous’ suggestion Harry and Meghan could ‘upstage’ coronation

Royal fans have branded suggestions that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will steal the limelight at the coronation as “ridiculous”.

Last week a royal expert raised fears that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex could outshine King Charles’ upcoming historic day.

The royal coronation has been arranged to take place at Westminister Abbey on May 6 the same day as Archie’s fourth birthday.

Traditionally the royal household releases a portrait of the family member on their birthday.

But royal columnist Lee Cohen warns that releasing images of the toddler on the day of the coronation will be “terribly petty” and could “outrage” the monarch’s event.

Cohen said: “It’s terribly petty, but the Sussexes, who no longer have their royal platform, seem to relish any opportunity to attempt to upstage a royal occasion.

“It’s not as if the Royal Family seek occasions to upstage the antics of the Sussexes, quite the opposite.”

He also noted that the Sussexes released Lilibet Diana’s birthday portrait during the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

However, royal fans have hit out at the claims, branding them as “ridiculous”.

One person said: “It’s not going to happen. Let’s be honest.”

Another added: “I fail to see how a kiddies party could upstage the coronation of the king. That’s ridiculous”.

“They won’t and can’t upstage anything. Cos everyone is looking forward to the coronation. No-one does a royal party like the Brits!” commented a third.

One user said: “As if they have the power to upstage any royal event let alone the biggest one of the year”.

“I doubt that very much”, agreed another.

Harry and Meghan have been invited to the coronation, although it remains unclear whether or not they will make the trip to the UK to attend.
