Boy, 12, dragged to floor by ‘Rottweiler’ and bitten in stomach at school gates

Cops are hunting the owner of a Rottweiler-type dog that savagely bit a 12-year-old boy at the gates of his school.

The schoolboy was rushed to hospital after sustaining “cuts and bruises” to his stomach after the mutt mauled him outside the Limehurst Academy in Loughborough on January 24.

PC Sam Parr of Leicestershire Police, which is investigating the incident, said in a statement published today (February 28): “I would like to speak to the man pictured about this incident.

“I believe he may have information that could assist my investigation.

“I’m appealing to dog walkers who frequent the area where it happened and may recognise him from the clothes he’s wearing or the dog that’s with him.

“I’m also appealing directly for the man to get in touch.”

The request for information came as the force released stills from CCTV footage of the man understood to be the owner of the vicious dog.

A post about the incident was initially shared by the boy’s relative on Facebook.

It read: “My nephew, age 12, was attacked by a Rottweiler dog outside Limehurst high school.

“He was seriously injured and cut as the dog dragged him to the ground, shaking him, causing cuts and bruises to his stomach and body needing emergency treatment.

“The man ran off after the dog attack and left my nephew there on the floor on his own, scared crying for help, and he ran off”.

The attack comes after several people across the UK have been brutally attacked by dogs this year.

Natasha Johnston, a 28-year-old woman, was killed after a pack of eight dogs tore at her flesh while she was walking her dog in Caterham, Surrey.

A coroner said shortly after her tragic death: “The medical cause of death (was) given as 1a) shock and haemorrhage including perforation of the left jugular vein, and in 1b) the pathologist places multiple penetrating dog bites to her neck”.
