Chris Sutton hails Arsenal’s fightback to beat Bournemouth, with fans and players praising Nelson

‘It’s days like today where you think maybe this is Arsenal’s season’: Chris Sutton hails the Gunners fightback to seal late win over Bournemouth, with fans and the sidelined Eddie Nketiah praising winner Reiss Nelson

Chris Sutton has backed Arsenal to win the Premier League this season after their stunning 3-2 win over Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon – and the fans agree.

Arsenal’s title hopes looked decidedly on the rocks when they fell to a two-goal deficit against the Cherries, starting off in the worst possible way with Philip Billing’s goal after 9.11 seconds.

However the Gunners kicked into gear after going 2-0 down just before the hour mark, with Thomas Partey and substitute Ben White getting the hosts level with 20 minutes remaining.

Home fans at the Emirates had to wait a long time for the victory to be crowned, before substitute Reiss Nelson stepped up with the decisive goal in the 97th minute – a piece of late drama to mirror the chaos of the opening seconds.

It has led many in the football world to believe it marks a key moment in Arsenal’s pursuit of Premier League glory, as it restored their five-point lead at the summit.

Sportsmail’s own Chris Sutton tweeted: ‘It’s days like today where you think maybe this is Arsenal’s season. Incredible comeback and the game settled by a Reiss Nelson rocket’, alongside two clapping emojis.

Eddie Nketiah, the Arsenal forward sidelined for the Bournemouth match with an ankle issue, wrote: ‘Reiss Nelson, game changer!!!’

Nelson, 23, came through the Arsenal youth system, and has proved his value to the North London club, by stepping up with the valuable goal at a critical time in the title race.

Fans back the belief that Arsenal will go on to take the Premier League after the dramatic win

Football fans are also backing the Gunners to go all the way after that stellar turnaround. One wrote: ‘Arsenal have mentality monsters. They will win the league for sure.’

The way Arsenal clambered their way back into the winner’s enclosure despite being up against it has been labelled as a reason why they will emerge victorious in May. A Twitter user stated: ‘Arsenal will win the league from here. And this comeback will make it possible.’ Another added: ‘that’s a title winning game’.

Even rivals fans believe the dramatic nature of the win means Arsenal will seal the league title

Some are even tipping them for the big prize begrudgingly, with one noting: ‘However, this hurts me to say, Arsenal will win the league.’ A Newcastle fan wrote: ‘That winner for Arsenal will win them the league, wow.’

One Manchester United fan said while the Gunners would lift the Premier League at the end of the campaign, the Red Devils would find glory in the FA Cup, and in the Europa League, a competition which still features Mikel Arteta’s side.

They tweeted: ‘Arsenal will win the league and we will win the FA cup and Europa. Book it.’

Arsenal’s next outing is a trip to Sporting Lisbon in the Europa League on Thursday night, before returning to London for a derby match at Fulham.
