Pep Guardiola shows ‘no mercy to one of his students’ as Man City faced Kompany’s Burnley

Pep Guardiola ‘showed no mercy’ to his student Vincent Kompany on Saturday evening – as Burnley were hit for six.

Manchester City were in no mood for gifts are they cut through Burney’s defence at will at the Etihad Stadium. Erling Haaland responded to his five-goal on Tuesday evening with another hat-trick against the Championship side.

Kompany – who achieved legend status at City and played under Guardiola – was at the helm of the visitors on Saturday. And football fans have joked he showed his pupil “no mercy” after City smashed six past the Clarets.

One fan joked: “Pep showing no mercy to one of his students,” with a barrage of laughing emojis.

“Pep schooling Kompany that he will always be his boss,” a second joked. While a third added: “Think Kompany was naive to go toe to toe with City. Pep had his pants down there!”

And a fourth added: “Pep loves harassing his students. I think he has this weird obsession. Ten Hag held six, Arteta five, Kompany is holding six and counting. He might even take the league from Arteta!”

Guardiola paid tribute to Kompany in his programme notes ahead of the clash: “Guardiola on Kompany in his programme notes: “Honestly, it will be a pleasure to play against Vinny. His work-ethic, knowledge of the game, passion, mentality… Vincent has everything.”

City will now travel down to Wembley for the 13th season in a row as they pitch up in the capital for the semi-finals of the FA Cup.
