Oleksandr Zinchenko has joked he proposed to his wife – who has been dubbed as the ‘world’s sexiest WAG’ – in his underwear, but she couldn’t say no as he’s the ‘Ukrainian Brad Pitt’.
Arsenal’s star tied the knot with Ukrainian Vlada Zinchenko in 2019 – and the happy couple have since started a family. However, even four years later, Zinchenko is still embarrassed about the way he popped the question.
Speaking to FootballersLives, Zinchenko said: “The way I proposed is the worst proposal ever, ever – it’s impossible, it’s so shameful. Of course, she did [said yes]. First of all, because I am the Ukrainian Brad Pitt and I’m in my boxers – amazing body as well.”

He continued: “Honestly I am going to regret all my life my proposal – the worst thing ever – it’s incredible.”
Zinchenko explained Ukraine had a home game against Portugal in a Euro 2020 qualifier – and he planned to propose to her in the post-match interview. However, he wanted to ask permission from Vlada’s parents beforehand.
“This idea is perfect – we won the game 2-1. My ring was in my bag and I wanted to do it. But I knew from growing up that before you propose to your favoured wife you have to ask permission from her parents.” Zinchenko added he didn’t have a chance to ask permission.

The Arsenal man said: “I would like to give advice to everyone who is planning to do the proposal, please don’t do it my way. I became crazy at the time. I went outside walking for a while, and bought a lot of flowers for her that morning.
“Why I did it in the apartment instead of anywhere else? It’s not the most important, but it’s important for the memory.”
Zinchenko was able to pull off his romantic gesture later – when he got down on one knee for Vlada inside the Olympic Stadium in Kyiv surrounded by flowers in the shape of a heart.

The Ukrainian full-back is looking to claim his fifth Premier League winners medal this season – and his first at Arsenal.
Zinchenko will be hoping to thwart his old side with City and Arsenal still to meet at the Etihad Stadium in the run-in.
