Ryan Reynolds was given another reason to celebrate as Wrexham celebrated winning the National League title – with Ben Foster appearing to commit his future to the club.
The Red Dragons, owned by Reynolds and fellow actor Rob McElhenney, finally won a dramatic title battle with Notts County by coming from behind to beat Boreham Wood 3-1 on Saturday evening. The result meant the Welsh side, who crashed out of the Football League 15 years ago, could not be caught with one game left to play.
YouTuber and former Manchester United goalkeeper Foster has helped get Wrexham over the line after coming out of retirement to solve a goalkeeping crisis. The 40-year-old, who had a loan spell at Wrexham right at the start of his career, signed until the end of the season. However, in a conversation with Reynolds, broadcast on Foster’s own Cycling Goalkeeper show, he indicated he is ready to sign a deal for next season too.

“We’ll do it again next year,” he tells Reynolds, who replies ‘Yes!’ before jumping on Foster in delight.
The Hollywood star adds: “Alright, that’s a contract. He [Foster] said we’ll do it again next season. That’s it done, that is as good as gold, you just signed a verbal contract.”
Foster then confirmed in an interview that he was seriously considering extending his playing career.

“You have to contemplate it because to be part of Wrexham is a special thing,” said Foster, whose last-gasp penalty save against Notts on Easter Monday proved to be a pivotal moment in the title race.
“The lads were asking me in the car the other day: ‘Fozzy, what you doing?’ I really don’t know, I haven’t got a clue yet.
“It’s nice to be a man of leisure and freedom and I really enjoyed my retirement. I had a great time for nine months. But everybody who plays here can see that Wrexham is a really special club.
“If you live in Wrexham, you are a Wrexham fan. People here are so die-hard and live for the weekend.
“In football also there are so many big-times. But there’s no big-times in our dressing room, and that’s the bit I’ve really enjoyed.”
