Ronnie O’Sullivan peed on his fingers to cure blisters from practising so much

Potty world snooker champ Ronnie O’Sullivan had a wee on his fingers to try and cure blisters after practising too much.

The star confessed he took the desperate measure after playing so long in a bid to be the best in the business. Ronnie, 47, admitted: “I used to play until there were blisters on my fingers.

“Chasing perfection, playing for 10 hours a day trying to correct what I thought were flaws in my game. Blisters on my fingertips from constant contact with the baize, from the cue sliding between thumb and forefinger.

“I’d try all sorts to get them to harden up. I’d urinate on them – it doesn’t work, if you were wondering.”

The seven-times world champion has been sharing the secrets of his success in his new book, Unbreakable. And “The Rocket” said he has also sought the advice of self-help guru Steve Peters, who penned bestseller The Chimp Paradox.

Ronnie explained: “He’s given me a toolbox I can dip into whenever I’m starting to struggle. I still read the book. I have it with me when I’m travelling to tournaments, and it’s like doing my homework, part of my preparation for matches.

“It works for me because it’s about not listening to your negative inner voice.”

The cue king added: “It’s not about only accepting positive thoughts – you don’t want anyone blowing smoke up your arse. It’s about being in an emotionally neutral place.

“I take out Steve’s book – and I start making the little micro-shifts in attitude. Two steps back, four forward.”

O’Sullivan couldn’t add to his seven World Snooker Championship titles at the Crucible earlier this month, losing out to the eventual winner Luca Brecel at the quarter-final stage.
