A dozen dolphins are spotted enjoying a synchronised surf off the coast of Sydney in breathtaking image

- Dolphins are often seen riding waves or swimming in the wake of small boats
They may not have been synchronised swimming on porpoise – but these dolphins certainly love to surf.
A pod of at least 12 were spotted riding the same wave close to the shoreline at Manly Beach in Sydney, Australia.
Photographer Jessica Blacklow, 46, of New South Wales, captured the precise moment the mammals lined up next to each other behind a breaking wave.
‘I was not expecting there to be so many all riding the one wave together, it was crazy,’ she said.
But surfing in pods is a particularly common pastime for the creatures, which can often be seen riding in the wake of the swell behind boats.
