WWE giant Omos loves making doubters ‘eat their words’ after backlash to match

WWE powerhouse Omos has hit back at fan criticism of his billing at Backlash last month, relishing the chance to prove doubters wrong.

The towering Nigerian, one of the most physically imposing stars in all of WWE, was paired against Seth Rollins in Puerto Rico for the big event.

Despite the encounter coming just weeks after Omos had tangled with Brock Lesnar in another huge, marquee match, some questioned the call to have him face The Visionary Backlash.

The grappler – not officially tied to either Raw or SmackDown at present following the WWE draft that left him a ‘free agent’ – bore the brunt of frustration that called it a random pairing.

In the end Omos and Rollins delivered a very watchable affair – just as Omos did with Lesnar on the company’s grandest stage.

Omos, standing some seven feet, three inches tall, spoke to Daily Star this week as stars converge on the UK ahead of the huge Money in the Bank event at London’s O2 on Saturday night.

Touching on the online negativity, he claimed it’s nothing new, saying: “To be honest, that’s been the motto online about my career thus far: ‘why is Omos in this match?’ and ‘this match is gonna suck!’

“I took it on my shoulder because I work hard and truly love this business and enjoy what I do.

“It kinda hits a little chord here and there but I never let it derail what I want to go out and do, to go out and put on the best match.

“That’s my goal, to make them eat their words so have to say about Omos ‘we were wrong’ – that’s such a good feeling.”

The WWE Performance Center Graduate added: “It’s just how I was raised. People are gonna say stuff, and we have a saying back home in Nigera – ‘if nobody’s talking about you, then you’re a nobody.’

“If people are talking about me in a good way, or a bad way, I’m doing something right.”

A former foe of legend AJ Styles, Omos isn’t yet slated to appear at Money in the Bank on Saturday, but will likely see action during other dates on what is an extended UK and Ireland tour.

He’s wasted no time making the best of his stay here and has taken in a spot of sightseeing – even if getting about by car has proved problematic!

“It has been nice,” he went on to say. This is my first time in the UK and I wish I had more time to spend here just to explore!

“I’m lucky to have some family here so I’m lucky that I get to see them for the first time in years.

“I got do some exploring yesterday and saw Big Ben and Buckingham Palace.

“I love shopping so we made a stop at Harrods, so it has been a nice experience, though I did notice the cars here are pretty small here compared to the United States!

“That was a little problem but it is what it is!”
