The jail’s Independent Monitoring Board revealed: “Cilwrgi Farm Training Centre is a satellite which enables prisoners from Prescoed to work and receive training in agriculture, operating farm machinery and warehousing; this has recently been expanded to include rail and track maintenance.

“Importantly these occupations can provide relatively secure and well-paid employment on release.”
