Mr Anderson added that he was “quite confident for the next election, especially the Red Wall, because people have got no love for [Keir] Starmer at all.” He joked that individuals “nod off” when listening to the Labour chief converse.

Mr Sunak appointed Mr Anderson as deputy chairman of the Conservative Party in February regardless of his historical past of claiming controversial issues.
