Wales struck by an earthquake as tremor in small village felt two miles away

Residents in a rural village have been left shaken after an earthquake struck “with a bang”.

The countryside city of Capel Carmel in Pen Llyn in Gwynedd, south Wales, was hit by the phenomenon leaving locals commenting the rumble felt “like thunder.” Taking to Facebook, some even stated it “sounded like it was in the sky.”

Data recorded by the British Geological Survey (BGS) stated the earthquake was centred on the village and hit a depth of 19km, with a magnitude of 1.8 Richter scale – which measures the quantity of vitality launched by earthquakes. The tremor was felt some two miles away within the close by hamlet of Rhydlios, studies WalesOn-line.

The quake, which was recorded on Wednesday (December 20) is not the primary of its type in Wales this 12 months.
