Conservative MP Mike Freer’s constituency workplace was hit by a suspected arson assault on Christmas Eve.
Police are investigating the hearth in a shed on the Tory MP’s workplace in North Finchley, London, a Metropolitan Police spokesman mentioned. Firefighters have been referred to as to the blaze at round 7pm final night time, with residents reporting the street was for a number of hours.
Mr Freer has been MP for Finchley and Golders Green since 2010 and is parliamentary under-secretary on the Ministry of Justice. He mentioned the response from police and the fireplace brigade was “excellent” and that they have been “on site in minutes”.
He mentioned the rear of the constructing had been broken however nobody had been harm because the workplace was empty on the time. Mr Freer added: “The police are still investigating and checking out CCTV footage. Until the suspects are caught we won’t know the motivation. Luckily no-one was in the office at the time.”
A Met Police spokesman mentioned: “An investigation is under way after a fire in a shed at the constituency office of Mike Freer MP in North Finchley. We were called at 19:06hrs on Sunday, 24 December by the London Fire Brigade following a fire at the office in Ballards Lane, N3.
“There have been no experiences of any accidents and the fireplace was put out. The reason for the fireplace is below investigation as it’s believed it could have been began intentionally. Further enquiries will happen.”
