‘Pub Olympian’ Williams wins at Ally Pally – six years after taking over darts

“I know we won two world wars and one World Cup, but that… The German fans in here, all I could hear was these guys. What a game!”

While the reference to world wars was inadvisable, his exuberance was maybe comprehensible given just some years in the past he was taking part in pub league darts having solely taken up the game in his late 20s after preferring poker and pool in his youthful days.

“Darts has been in my family for years,” he instructed Daily Star Sport forward of his Ally Pally debut 12 months in the past. “My mum and pop performed commonly however I by no means actually acquired into it, I wasn’t overly . Williams, who will face Berry van Peer or Damon Heta within the fourth spherical, had loved a disappointing first full 12 months on the PDC Tour, however his run at Ally Pally will give his profession a large enhance.
