Two individuals have been killed as a lethal blaze swept by a Croydon dwelling, firefighters have confirmed.  

The London Fire Brigade and different emergency companies rushed to the scene on Sanderstead Road simply after 11pm after receiving studies of a fireplace. 

Two males died as a result of intense smoke and flames regardless of greatest efforts from emergency companies to avoid wasting them. 

The property, believed to be occupied by Polish nationals who’re stated to be squatters, was engulfed in flames, requiring six fireplace engines and an aerial ladder.

The Metropolitan Police has launched an investigation into the reason for the fireplace

A spokesperson for the Met Police stated: ‘Police had been referred to as by the London Fire Brigade (LFB) at 22:48hrs on Friday, 29 December to a home fireplace in Sanderstead Road, South Croydon.

‘Officers attended together with LFB and the London Ambulance Service.

‘Two males – no additional particulars – had been sadly pronounced useless on the scene. Officers are working to tell their subsequent of kin.

‘A 3rd man was taken to hospital the place he stays in a life-threatening situation.

‘A fourth and fifth man later self-presented at hospital. One of the boys is in a life-threatening situation and the opposite has since been discharged.

‘The reason for the fireplace is below investigation by LFB and police.’
