A vacationer has been left raging after their Airbnb reserving was ruined by roaches, rodents and a leaky ceiling.
Author Melanie, who goes by pen identify M.L Rio took to X, previously Twitter, to precise her outrage on the state of the condo, which she mentioned she had hoped to guide for a month and wanted to be “pet friendly”. She mentioned: “For a fun game, let’s do a tour of the unit @Airbnb refuses to give me a refund for!”
It wasn’t lengthy earlier than she discovered her first critter. She famous: “When I first got here, there was a small cockroach in the kitchen. I killed it, which was evidently my mistake, because @AirbnbHelp wanted proof. Since then I’ve killed two more and one got away, but here’s your proof!” This was adopted by a video of a cockroach crawling on a wall.”

From here, she claims to have found evidence of rodents. “But it’s not just roaches. We also have rodents,” Melanie said. “Mouse droppings and general filth between the fridge and the cabinets. In case you think there’s a chance it could be anything else, think again.”

She mentioned that the new water solely lasted for “just long enough to wash another roach down the drain,” however Airbnb allegedly then requested her to “send us documentation to support that hot water isn’t working”.
She defined that she had it booked for a month, and wanted it to be pet-friendly, however she wasn’t on the finish of the alleged issues.
She mentioned that upon arrival she instantly observed, “the furniture is different from the pictures (no couch, but a crappy futon instead). Willing to give it the benefit of the doubt because I try not to be an asshole, usually. Naïve, clearly. But then I notice the heat doesn’t seem to be working.
“I reach out to the host, who sends a handyman. He removes an HVAC filter that is BLACK. Like the cancerous lung of a lifelong chain-smoker.” After she obtained in contact with Airbnb, she determined to take a bathe. “Wrong move. There’s a roach waiting for me in the tub,” she wrote. “I drown him.”

She chronicles a number of incidents of alleged dangerous customer support geared toward Airbnb with hours supposedly spent on the telephone and as many as 10 representatives spoken to.
But issues didn’t go nicely. Melanie mentioned: “I provide additional evidence and the [ninth] or 10th person I’ve talked to says they’ll review the situation and get back to me with a decision. The decision is that I don’t qualify for AirCover or a refund and in so many words I can go f**k myself.”
She added: “Because I don’t have $2500 (yes! That’s how much I’m paying for the privilege of living here for a month!) to just light on fire and go stay somewhere else, I had to move BACK in the day after I moved in and back out again because that’s what they told me to do.”

Melanie mentioned she went house to a “safe place” and issues began to search for for her – however solely marginally. “They’re talking refunds now but still trying to make me pay 70% of the cost of the nights I spent in the unit after they FORCED ME TO MOVE BACK IN by refusing me a refund in the first place”.
