Billionaires and millionaires are begging politicians to tax them extra.
More than 250 moneybags, together with British actors Brian Cox and Simon Pegg, have penned an open letter to world leaders assembly in Davos. They need them to introduce wealth taxes to assist pay for higher public companies around the globe.
Cox, 77, who starred as fictional billionaire Logan Roy in Succession, mentioned: “We live in a second Gilded Age. Billionaires are wielding their excessive wealth to build up political energy and affect, concurrently undermining democracy and the worldwide financial system.

“It’s long past time to act. If our elected officials refuse to address this concentration of money and power, the consequences will be dire.”
The rich group, which incorporates Disney inheritor Abigail Disney, wrote the “Proud to Pay” letter to world politicians assembly on the World Economic Forum in Switzerland.
It mentioned: “Our request is easy: we ask you to tax us, the very richest in society.
“This won’t essentially alter our way of life, nor deprive our kids, nor hurt our nations’ financial development.

“But it will turn extreme and unproductive private wealth into an investment for our common democratic future.”
It follows a ballot of wealthy individuals, by Survation for the marketing campaign group Patriotic Millionaires, which discovered 74% help greater taxes on wealth to deal with the cost-of-living disaster and enhance public companies.
The letter concluded: “We ask you to take this necessary and inevitable step before it’s too late. Make your countries proud. Tax extreme wealth.”

Documentary filmmaker and activist Disney, 63, added: “Even millionaires and billionaires like me are saying it’s time. The elites gathering in Davos must take this crisis seriously.”
