Tory MP Dean Russell describes having a coronary heart assault aged 47 in emotional speech

A Tory MP has thanked those that saved his life after he had a coronary heart assault in an emotional second at Prime Minister’s Questions.

Dean Russell, 47, mentioned he “unexpectedly” had a coronary heart assault 5 months in the past and is simply right here at the moment “due to the swift motion of the NHS emergency companies”. “So along with encouraging everyone to visit the British Heart Foundation website to understand the early warning signs and get fantastic resources to help them, would the Prime Minister also join me in thanking everyone who helped to save my life and help me recover, including the East of England Ambulance Service, the team at Watford General Hospital and Harefield Hospital, the Cardiac Rehabilitation Team and everyone who supported me, especially my family and my team, some of whom are in the gallery today to ensure that I continue to deliver for the great people of Watford.”

Rishi Sunak agreed we’re all “truly grateful” for what NHS staff do. “I thank my honourable friend for sharing his story and I know the whole house will be delighted to hear he has made a swift recovery,” he mentioned. “We all wish him good health as he resumes his excellent campaigning on behalf of his constituents in Watford and I also join him in thanking our fantastic NHS staff for the life-saving work they do up and down the country.”

Heart assault signs






Common signs of a coronary heart assault embody:

“I am also incredibly proud to hear that our BHF information and advice helped Dean in his recovery. After a heart attack it is completely normal to have questions and our team help millions of people every year. We are here to support everyone with a heart question, no matter how big or small.”

When Mr Russell was having a coronary heart assault, he recognised the signs following his work on campaigns with BHF fifteen years in the past in his earlier profession in advertising and marketing and communications. He felt numbness in his left arm coupled with ache in his chest and higher again, and known as 111 for recommendation who swiftly raised the alarm sending an ambulance instantly.
