Discussing the controversy on the Loose Women panel, creator and TV star Katie, 40, shared her ideas on Mr Sunak’s actions as she branded him as ‘harmful’ and ’embarrassing’. Katie furiously argued: “I think that anybody – in particular our leaders – who use such dehumanising language about the most marginalised minorities in our society is so dangerous.

“It incites violence out on the streets – the streets that they do not must stroll house from work on or get the evening bus house alone on. It normalises it and provides different folks the inexperienced mild to disconnect from different people and deal with them on this manner. It’s so, so, harmful and there is this lack of belief for me now. If that is what he says in public, what does he say about different minorities behind closed doorways.”

The Loose ladies were not the only ones to speak on the controversy, however. During Thursday’s episode of This Morning, hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary invited Ashley James and Nick Ferrari to share their thoughts on the furore. Ferrari insisted Rishi had not made the comments with malice, while Ashley fumed the Prime Minister should not be defended and the language he used should be banned.

Former Made in Chelsea star Ashley said: “I do know we’re going to argue about this since you are presently trending on Twitter for what you mentioned defending Rishi Sunak. Before she was murdered for being trans, Brianna Ghey’s dad and mom needed to take heed to politicians mock and degrade the trans neighborhood continually. Questions like this, ‘What is a girl’. We presently are on our knees, and Rishi Sunak goes on and on about what a girl is.

“I am sorry, the trans community are not to blame for violence against women and girls. I feel like Rishi Sunak has nothing left because his party have been in power for over a decade and they have nothing left. All they do is stroke culture wars. Divisive language has consequences, Brianna is one example of the consequences of this. What he is doing is he is telling other people in society it is ok to pick battles against the trans community. language really matters, Brianna really matters and the trans community matters.”

LBC host Nick added: “You say I defended him, what he said was wrong. It was ill-advised and he shouldn’t have said it. However, he is not a malicious man, he is making a political point. It was ill-judged, once he knew the mum was in the House he certainly shouldn’t have said it. He did it for political reasons.”

Asked if he would apologise, Mr Sunak advised reporters on Thursday: “If you look at what I said, I was very clear, talking about Keir Starmer’s proven track record of U-turns on major policies because he doesn’t have a plan.

“Some extent is just confirmed by right now’s reviews that the Labour Party and Keir Starmer are apparently planning to reverse on their signature financial inexperienced spending coverage. That simply demonstrates the purpose I used to be making. He’s somebody who has simply persistently modified his thoughts on an entire vary of main issues. I feel that’s a completely reputable factor to level out and it demonstrates that he would not have a plan for the nation.”
