Prem ref helps teen official ‘who was spat at & known as C-word by U15s participant’

Ex-Premier League and Football League referee Chris Foy has supplied assist to a teenage referee who claimed to have been spat at and known as the C-word’ by an under-15s participant.

The referee, Alex, who can also be underneath the age of 18, posted on social media in regards to the abhorrent abuse he allegedly suffered from a participant while refereeing an U15s recreation. The incident is claimed to have resulted in Alex being spat at by the participant and known as the C-word in a vile assault after the participant in query had already been despatched off for 2 bookable offences.

Posting on his Twitter account, Alex wrote: “Got assaulted for the first time today refereeing. An Under 15s player SPAT at me after trying to square up to me (yellow) refusing to give his name (yellow) and calling me the C word! I’m under 18 myself! @refsupportuk something needs to change.”

In response to the tweet which has over 1.4million views and seven,000 likes on the time of writing. Lincolnshire FA launched a press release which learn: “Lincolnshire Football Association has been made aware of an incident over the weekend during a youth fixture involving a match official that has gained considerable social media attention.

“A formal report has been received from the match official in relation to this incident, and a full investigation will now be conducted by our discipline team. The referee is receiving the appropriate support from our referee development manager, as well as the referee support lead for their area of the county.”

Upon seeing the submit and the response from the Lincolnshire FA, Foy, who officiated within the top-flight between 2001 and 2015, replied to {the teenager}’s submit and wished him nicely, writing: “Sending you my very best wishes. Delighted to see the support being offered. Stay strong Alex”.

The investigation stays open and the offending participant, staff and match in query haven’t been made public.
