Sofa cleaners make heart-stopping discovery beneath cushion – proprietor had no concept

Workers at a furnishings recycling centre had the shock of their lives when cleansing a donated couch.

Rather than discovering a couple of outdated pennies, receipts and a BIC pen, a large useless python snake fell out from beneath the cushions at Cunninghame Furniture Recycling (CFRC) in Irvine, North Ayrshire

Spokesman for the non-profit upcyclers, Scott Mould stated: “Nothing like this has ever happened before. People keep these animals as pets but the customer who donated the sofa to us confirmed they had gotten it second hand, and had never kept snakes.”

“So it could have been the previous owner, and the snake had been in there all this time.” After posting images on social media people suggested the dead snake was a Royal python, a species native to West and Central Africa.

Scott added: “Quite sadly you expect to find needles or things that might do them harm but you certainly do not expect a snake to pop out! It is quite unusual and definitely quite an odd one! We disposed of it as it is not something you want lying about.”

“It is always best to purchase your reuse items from a reputable reuse charity that has official quality and cleaning standards and processes.”

“But don’t let this discourage you from buying reuse from others as this is a very very rare downside”.
