Met Office warns of ‘wintery hazards’ to return as extra snow and ice set to hit UK

The Met Office has warned that Brits have to preserve the massive coat out of the storage cabinet for longer as “wintery hazards” are set to hit as soon as once more.

Since the beginning of 2024, the UK has been a mixture of snow, ice, rain, storms and . . . weirdly heat climate. And now the consultants on the Met Office have claimed that the top of March, heading into April, can be as mad as the remainder of the 12 months with Spring getting off to an icy and snow-filled begin.

In a brand new long-term forecast for ranging from Sunday, March 17 and ending two weeks afterward March 31, they predict that there can be “snow and ice” to stay up for.

They mentioned: “During the rest of the month, there is an increase in the chance of blocking patterns, with winds blowing more frequently from the north and east than is usual. At this time of year, winds from this direction can still bring wintry hazards, such as snow and ice, but the risk of these is likely to decrease as the month progresses.

“The wettest conditions are most likely to be in the south, with northern areas drier overall. Overall temperatures are more likely to be near or below average, though some warmer days are still possible at times.”

And the 2 weeks previous to this may also be very moist and really windy, with the climate forecast for Thursday March 7 to Saturday March 16 not trying like one thing we must be trying ahead to.

“There is an rising chance that unsettled circumstances with cloud and longer spells of rain unfold up from the south and west with cooler extra showery circumstances throughout the north.

“This likely setting the broad pattern for the subsequent week with occasional showers and longer spells of rain alongside stronger winds at times in the south with brighter but occasionally showery conditions across the north.”

However, before the snow and ice hits two weeks later, they warn of temperatures most likely hitting “just above average” between systems in the south and nearer average in northern areas.

So, maybe put the big coat on . . . but wear a t-shirt underneath.
