Britain’s “dullest” prepare fan made an 18-hour journey from Scotland to Stourbridge simply to experience on a six-minute shuttle.
Neil Hughes used planes, trains and vehicles to journey from his dwelling on the west coast of Scotland to Stourbridge within the West Midlands. His aim was to experience a Parry People Mover on Europe’s shortest department line.
The 0.8 mile line takes three minutes every approach and connects Stourbridge Junction to the city centre. Last Tuesday (27/2), Neil travelled a whopping 1,127.2 miles to get there and again in someday.

After his loopy journey, Neil stated: “I didn’t really have high expectations, I just wanted to do it and now I have. It was a fun thing to do and I’m glad I did it. My only regret is that I didn’t meet the station cat called George but maybe next time I will.”

He then took a 27-minute flight from Glasgow to Belfast, adopted by a three-hour wait to board the following airplane to Birmingham International Airport. From there, Neil had a half-hour prepare journey to Stourbridge Junction earlier than hopping on a fast three-minute single to the city.
He then travelled all the best way again, lastly reaching dwelling at round 11pm after catching a direct flight from Birmingham to Glasgow. Neil, who’s a father of two grown-up kids, stated: “Some people may find it a dull thing to do but I had to do it. I’m certainly glad I did it because it is unique. Elaine, Neil’s spouse of 38 years, joked: “To most people an 18-hour trip to travel on something for just six minutes sounds barmy but that’s an average day out for Neil.”

– He begins at 5am by driving from Troon to Glasgow Airport, which is 53 miles.
– At 7am, he flies from Glasgow to Belfast, masking 132 miles.
– Then at 10.40am, he takes one other flight from Belfast to Birmingham, which is 347 miles.
– By 11.34am, he is on a prepare from Birmingham International Airport to Stourbridge Junction, travelling 30 miles.
– At 12.10pm, he hops on the Shuttle from Stourbridge Junction to Stourbridge, which is simply 0.8 mile.
– And at 12.13pm, he goes again the identical approach on the Shuttle from Stourbridge to Stourbridge Junction, one other 0.8 mile.
