Football followers have been left baffled after Matt Le Tissier was listed as an “expert” on issues referring to the Covid-19 pandemic and vaccines by an MP.
Le Tissier, a Southampton soccer legend, was an outspoken sceptic of the pandemic throughout lockdown in 2020. Having admitted to researching Covid-19 out of boredom, the previous England striker and Sky Sports pundit started tweeting controversial views on Twitter, incomes him a popularity as a conspiracy theorist.

Bridgen took to Twitter on Tuesday to share a letter he had written to metropolitan police commissioner Sir Mark Rowley accusing the federal government of “serious criminal offences”, reminiscent of Misconduct in Public Office, Gross Negligent Manslaughter, Corporate Manslaughter, Fraud and Murder.
He tweeted: “I’ve written to Sir Mark Rowley for an pressing assembly with the Metropolitan Police to debate varied points concerning the Covid 19 pandemic and vaccination programme.
“You can learn my full letter beneath, which is supported by a spread of individuals from all backgrounds.”
The MP requested a 3 hour assembly with twenty individuals of his selecting, described as specialists, to debate “disturbing evidence regarding the Covid-19 pandemic and the government’s vaccination programme”.
But social media users quickly noticed that alongside a list of various doctors and professors was listed Le Tissier. And they took to the comments section to mock Bridgen and the retired footballer.
One Twitter user wrote: “Matt Le Tissier as an ‘expert’!” together with laughing face emoijs, whereas one other tweeted: “Jesus the names on that list.”
A 3rd replied: “You did not write a letter and include Matt Le Tissier as an expert. How is this even real life?” whereas a fourth mocked: “That list of people he expects to be consulted is priceless.”
A fifth person chimed in with: “Oh dear. I suspect that will go straight in the bin…” Another joked: “Is Matt Le Tissier there in case it goes to penalties?”
